Budget Used Cars Killeen Tx – The city of Killeen is looking for a replacement for Assistant City Manager Dennis Baldwin, who will retire from the city in January. On Friday, the city head-hunting company Strategic Government Resources posted an opening for the position of assistant city manager with the city, which will be used to replace Baldwin.

According to the list, the initial salary can be negotiated in the range of $ 140,000 depending on qualifications and experience, and its position includes a $ 3,000 car allowance. While this position will be used as a substitute, the city still considers hiring a second chief assistant after the first candidate is found.

Even though the city has operated with one city manager, Ron Olson, and one direct subordinate, Assistant City Manager Dennis Baldwin, the Killeen City Council gave OK for the city to pursue filling positions during the 2019 budget talks.

During the budget talks in August, Olson said the city was functioning only with one assistant manager but asked the council to approve a new position to more efficiently delegate oversight of city operations.

It is not clear whether internal candidates are considered for posted positions.

Communication Director Hilary Shine could not be reached for comment Monday.

The city eliminated the position of deputy city manager after Farris, a former assistant city manager for internal services and temporary city manager, retired in January.

Baldwin, the former Killeen police chief, has served in an assistant role since hiring Olson in February 2017. Before that, Baldwin served four months in the role of temporary city manager after the council chose to free Farris from his temporary position.

Farris became a temporary city manager in April 2016 after retiring from City Manager Glenn Morrison.

During Morrison’s tenure, the city detained two assistant city managers on staff with tasks divided between internal and external service supervision.

In that model, the internal city assistant manager oversees financial operations, human resources, information technology and support service departments. External assistant managers oversee capital funds, including public works, aviation and solid waste.

The city’s last assistant city external service manager, John Sutton, former director of Killeen flights, retired from his position in January 2016, with Morrison taking up the task at the time.

While the position of second assistant manager is currently passed in the 2019 budget, the board will be asked to pass a budget amendment to fund the position if a candidate is identified.

The company tasked with finding candidates for the role, Keller-based Strategic Government Resources, also helped the city in its final search for a city manager. During the process, the company submitted five finalists for board approval, including Olson, who came to town with 37 years of city management experience.

Olson worked as city manager for Corpus Christi before his recruitment.

The first review of the application will be November 5, according to the company.
