Used Car Shops –The Kia Picanto is still a relatively new car, but is sold when it’s new as an alternative to used cars, purely based on its low purchase price. But what about now that some Picantos will change when buying used goods? Do they still judge as a previously owned proposition, or are you better off buying a new one considering the price hasn’t increased much?
The answer is not exactly simple: the Picanto sold here comes in two different forms, and you have to buy the right one, because one is definitely superior to the others in several key areas. Kia launched the Picanto here in 2016, in just one trim variant and without any real choice beyond color. In fact, there isn’t even a transmission option and while most cheap cars are manual gearboxes or no agreement, Kia is the opposite.

The problem is that the four-speed automatic you capture is not very good at utilizing the 63kW Picanto power.
The car also lags behind the usual Australian-Kia process where the suspension and steering calibration are adjusted locally for local conditions. As a result, the Picanto is a victim of its own small wheelbase and narrow tracks and drives and directs on the usual boring side.
At least you get six airbags including a complete curtain bag, lots of braking aids, stability control, and exceptional fuel economy thanks to the weight of the sub-1000kg car sidewalk. However, beyond that, it is quite clear that this is a city car built at a certain price. So, it’s the earliest Picantos that you don’t really want.
The ones who make the 2017 model are sold here from June onwards which will be addressed. For starters, you can finally find the smart thing and determine the five-speed manual gearbox to extract more than the 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine that was carried away. Safety takes a big leap with the reverse camera and the Picanto suddenly is better connected with Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity as standard.
The revised Picanto also looks better with some new graphics, but the real magic is under the skin. As well as autonomous emergency braking (with speeds below 50 km / h) Picanto was finally treated to a full localization process that saw Aussie engineers trim their suspension and steering to better suit our roads and tastes.
And it works. Suddenly, Picanto drives beautifully and rises like a bigger car. It can also survive on an open road even though the four speed automatic that is still available does not help in that regard.
That said, it’s still rather clear that the Picanto was built at a price (very sharp) with some hard plastic in the cabin and a fairly tight rear seat. So, pay to check the inside of any used Picanto closely because wear and normal damage can appear a little earlier on the same plastic. Even carpets in cars like Kia can be very thin and can wear out quickly, so a general inspection of the look and feel of a car is a good step. That applies to the outside, too, and with such appeal to younger drivers, the Picanto is no stranger to strange rubs or bumps on its extremities.
Perhaps the best reason to buy Picanto’s second hand is that it will be cheaper than the new, but will also have anything up to six years the factory warranty is left to run. The warranty of a new car from Kia is the best in the business, but the catch is that you must provide a full service history before Kia is obliged to honor the warranty.
Oil changes that are passed, in particular, on small machines that work hard like this are a very bad idea. The problem is, of course, many people who buy new Picantos do it for low fuel consumption and purchase prices, and these buyers have the habit of expanding the ethos for preventive maintenance. Check the service book carefully.
Another thing that needs to be checked is the overall car ownership history. Many fleets love the Picanto for all the same reasons as private buyers and the fact that it is the ideal size for city shipping. Florists, newsagents, car-sharing companies; they all like Picanto.
Frankly, Picanto with a history in a small business need not worry, but we reject the example of a used car on the basis that every time it is pushed, it is done by someone who does not have their own car.
Meanwhile, it seems that Picanto is following the modern-Kia tradition quite well put together in really important fields. They did not appear in workshops while vomiting oil or dragging their exhaust on the ground and the trade loved him so the basic formula seemed right.
