Used Cars For Sale In Newnan Ga – Vintech Industries Inc. making progress into a global automotive Tier 2 supplier. The Imlay City-based company is preparing to open two new manufacturing plants in Newnan, Ga., Dan Carregado, Portugal.
“Back a few years ago, we realized that our strategy must be a dedicated global Tier 2 supplier, supplying Tier 1 needs everywhere in the world,” said CEO Jim Schoonover, in a telephone interview. “Our customers provide systems for global vehicles – in the US, in Asia, and in Europe. We can support each of these Level 1 customers, wherever in the world, for the first time. It is interesting to finally be able to do that.”

Vintech makes extruded seals and molds, and inserts mold components, in plants in Michigan, China and Mexico. The company makes various interior and exterior parts, specializing in developing new applications.
Vintech rents out 20,000 sq ft. facilities in Portugal, near Lisbon. This factory can be developed so that it can accommodate growth, said Schoonover, noting that the company is in the process of rebuilding the extrusion line for the plant. Schoonover said Vintech bought some new equipment, and also bought Davis standard machines and renewed them at home.
The factory, starting operations in December or January, will begin with 10 employees and grow to 50 in a few years.
Vintech had plans to start manufacturing in Turkey for the European market, through a joint venture. But economic problems in Turkey convinced officials to expand in Portugal, Schoonover said.
The company bought 30,000-sq.-ft. The Georgia plant, and has plans to add 20,000 square feet of space to the pad already on the site. The plant will start with 10 employees in the first quarter of 2019, and grow to 50 in a few years.
Schoonover said it would make sense to expand in Georgia because of concerns over the current automotive supply chain about trade.
“We have many customers in the area – in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. With the recent tariffs, there is certainly a need for OEMs to localize some of those businesses,” he said. “For example, if OEMs currently import products from Europe or South Korea, they may have to pay tariffs. If we can produce locally, that makes more sense.”
Schoonover, who founded Vintech in 2004 at Imlay City, said Vintech had 125 different Tier 1 customers, and the largest accounted for only 8 percent of its sales.
The two Vintech plants in Michigan – at Almont and Imlay City – are in capacity, so opening two new plants will free up space for Michigan plants to grow.
Vintech has annual sales of around $ 50 million.
“We have a clear road map of up to $ 100 million in sales. We all work hard, and we believe the future will be good,” he said.
Vintech employs around 300 globally, with Michigan plants accounting for around 200. Plants in Monterrey and Puebla, Mexico, employ around 70; and factories in Ningbo and Ninghai, China, employ around 30.
