Used Cars In Lake Charles – Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o, on Wednesday, issued an executive order prohibiting washing vehicles along the shores of Lake Victoria and the main water bodies in the area. Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebration in Kisumu, Governor Nyong’o claimed that rampant car wash activities along the lake are the main point of pollution, which supports the hyacinth weeds on the lake.
“2019 is the year to deal with water hyacinth finally and firmly and this I promise I will do. Henceforth, there will be no washing of cars on lakes or on any river in the Kisumu region,” he said. The governor also stated that districts that share lakes under the banner of the economic block of the lake area are devising a strategy to jointly eradicate weeds.

Nyong’o further announced that the local government would work with the National Environment and Management Authority (NEMA) to reduce other forms of pollution such as industrial waste to the lake.
Since the invasion of the past four decades, large water masses have gotten green with water hyacinth that stretches from Teluk Winam to Homa Bay, killing fish and other marine activities.
Many fishermen have claimed their activities have been affected, with the majority fearing being trapped in the lake by stubborn weeds.
There have been joint efforts in the past by a number of organizations to control weed pollution but only a few have been achieved.
However, some analysts and fishermen believe that weeds have turned into cash. They don’t seem to understand why Kenya won’t borrow the same manual tactics used by Uganda and Tanzania to preserve the lake side.
However, he warned that those who would violate the lake pollution ban would be dealt with appropriately.
