Used Cars Twin Falls – A Twin Falls man has been accused of burning the first level after police said he burned his own car Michael Allen Newell Jr., 23, was dragged on September 24 and released on his own admission. Police began investigating Newell after his car was found burning in the Lighthouse Christian School parking lot on September 6, according to a written statement.
Security camera footage showed Newell parking his car in the parking lot, then left with his girlfriend in his car, police said. Shortly after his girlfriend’s car left the parking lot, smoke could be seen coming from inside Newell’s car. Newell told the marshal of the fire he parked at school so he and his girlfriend could exchange cars because his car had a mechanical problem and he had to go to Mountain Home the next day.

He denied setting the car on fire. His girlfriend also told the police that he did not know how the fire started and did not think Newell had started it.
Investigations by the fire marshal determined that the fire had started intentionally and was not caused by cables.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 5.
